Take the time to check the student room, the landlord and the terms.

View the student room before deciding

Arrange a viewing and check that the room matches the photos and description. Ask who the landlord is and how to contact them. Don't let anyone pressure you into signing or paying immediately.

Ask about the full rental costs

Discuss the rent, additional costs, deposit and rental period. Ask for the agreement in writing before paying anything. An unusually low price or an urgent payment request is a reason to ask more questions.

A verification badge isn't a guarantee

‘Identity checked’ refers to the landlord’s identity. The badge does not mean that the student room has been inspected or that ownership and rental terms have been checked.

Protect your data
